Life is like that.......

Life is not like a ready made dress which we could choose according to our wish. Just like the story of the Child who complained to God that the life she was given was not good enough, and that she wanted a better life from the Holy Father’s storehouse. The Almighty consoled her and asked her to work hard and make her life out of sweat and blood. Doing so she found herself enjoying every moment of life.

Pearl. S. Buck , in her book ‘ The Mother’ tells us the story of a women whose husband was lured away by the pleasures of the city and, leaving her alone to fend for a daughter who was slowly going blind and a younger son who became a communist, at a time when it was considered a very dangerous ideology in China. The whole story is about her fight to survive. She paves her way by using the bricks that life constantly throws at her.

But any way the story ends with the birth of her grandson. The mother is happy. With this the author fills us with optimism
In the ‘Old Man and The Sea’ by Hemingway- the epic fight of an old fisherman against the rage of the sea, i.e. the forces of nature. We can see that people are built to survive any adverse conditions, provided they have the will power. “Man can be destroyed but he cannot be defeated”

There are times when people blessed with all the goodness, the ones entrusted with goodness fail, due to their miscalculations and bad luck. Ravanan, the most handsome, wise and strong , the one who was said to have the fierceness of the Demons and the goodness of the Gods, was defeated by a prince with the help of the monkeys. It seemed that he underestimated the strengths of his enemies and was crippled when his brother turned out to be a traitor. The greed for power is embedded in human blood.
Optimism helps us to move forward overcoming the hurdles of life. Kumaran Ashan who wept over the fallen flower, foresees the flower blooming on the branch of the heavenly tree. Salvation is after all what we live for.
